If you’re wondering what’s on in Shrewsbury over Christmas, then my friends, you’re in for a treat. Just like you, we think there’s nothing more frustrating than going online only to discover that one of your favourite bands had played the day before; some may even call it a tragedy. So we’re fighting back. No longer will we stand and watch as our fellow townsfolk miss the best things to do over the festive period. Here is our promise:
- We’ll be your North star when it comes to guiding you to the best sporting events on TV;
- our noses will glow brightly, so you know when special festive events are happening in Shrewsbury; and
- we’ll eat that last sprout on your plate, so you don’t miss one gig.
What’s on in Shrewsbury over Christmas – Live Music
Tues 18th December – Christmas Jam Night Special
Last jam night of the year. It’s gonna be a banger.
As always, we begin with acts and artists performing for the audience before it turns into a free for all, and that’s where the magic happens.
If you want to perform, then just get in touch. Hosted by Louise Miller-Barre, assisted by her elves Bennington and Zoe Zoom.
Albert says: ‘Christmas jumpers a must!’
Wed 19th December – Nikki Rous and Michaela Wylde
Ah Nikki Rous, one of Albert’s lovely friends who helps him keep the place in tip-top condition by bringing in the best of original talent Shropshire has to offer. But then, she can also sing and play guitar like a total ninja too. That’s why it’s always pleasure to be in the presence of her company as she performs on stage. And if that isn’t enough, there’s more….
Nikki Rous will be joined by the excellent Michaela Wylde, another of Shrewsbury’s finest gems.
Thurs 21st December – Albert Hates Karaoke Night
The old goat doesn’t even get a break over the Christmas period as poor Albert still suffers the wrath of Karaoke night on the eve of Mad Friday in Shrewsbury. Fortunately though, he’s out for the day, so we don’t need to listen to him moaning on.
Being a Christmas special, we invite you all to put on your best Christmas jumper and sing along to classic Christmas hits from Maria to The Supremes, and then from the King himself to our old pal Bing. Not to be missed. Free Entry.
Fri 21st December – Mad Friday in Shrewsbury
Arguably the best band to come out of Shropshire. Bishops Castle’s Fight the Bear make their annual festive appearance at Albert’s Shed, Shrewsbury to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas Party period. What should you expect? Hyper-energetic, guitar-driven indie music played by musicians with a real sense of love and devotion to both their music and fellow bandmates. Fight the Bear are a band that project out positivity that makes it hard not to smile, let alone move your feet in a frenzy of adulation to the beat.
Fri 21st December – Mad Friday in Albert’s Loft
As if we’d only be opening up downstairs on Mad Friday, no, no, Albert has got something very special up in his sleeve. So if you’re looking at what’s on in Shrewsbury over Christmas but you’re not into live bands, then check this:
Sonny Woods (Planet of the Breaks), Wayne Dope Evans and friends take over the Loft Bar for Better Daze, a night of solid House, Electro, and dancefloor grooves from ’86 to ’96. There’s limited space upstairs, but this one is gonna be a BEAST.
Sat 22nd December
If you’re looking for what’s on in Shrewsbury at Christmas but don’t fancy the chaos of Mad Friday then we have something very special for you indeed. Sonic Boom are a hugely talented three-piece that never fail to get Albert’s Shed rocking. Expect hit after hit after hit as they slam through all your favourite tunes with the grace and dignity of your favourite aunty who you watched on with glee at your third cousin’s wedding 20 years since.
Mon 24th December – Christmas Eve
Mulled wine and mince pies ahoy Gemima and Louise’s Christmas cracker brings you one step closer to the big day. Sing along with local musicians to form a one night only choir, performing all your Christmas favourites.
Starting at around 7pm, we’ll kick off with the singing around 8pm until 10pm.
Wed 26th December – Boxing Day
After a day of stress, feast and sleep there is only one way to shake off those extra pounds gained from eating one too many spuds. Yeah, we’re talking about getting out into town and really celebrating the Christmas holidays in style. And this Boxing Day at Albert’s Shed, Shrewsbury is going to be special.
Every time the Texels play the Shed sets off into a fury of dancing and ear to ear smiles. These boys love to have fun and it’s infectious. Expect loads of audience participation singing at the top of your lungs in gleeful harmony. Get down early so to avoid disappointment, you won’t regret it.

Albert’s dear old friends Microbaby are back in Albert’s Shed to raise your post-Christmas spirits in solidarity as we dance away the turkey and cheese pot bellies to a workout of classic rock hits from the Shropshire quartet.
Sat 29th December – The Indigo Machine
Kitten loving, female-fronted ‘The Indigo Machine’ make their Albert’s Shed debut on Saturday 29th December. By this point we’re all starting to worry a little about having to go back to work in just a few days. Ease off the clutch there, there’s still plenty of mileage left to go over the 2019 Christmas party period.
What to expect?
Classic rock and pop songs sang by a kick-ass vocalist with a band that smashes out songs with high energy you can shake your rump to.
