Albert’s Shed Staff Trained in Water Rescue Techniques by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service
Staff at Albert’s Shed have undergone rigorous training in throw-line techniques provided by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service. The training is aimed at equipping nighttime economy workers with the skills needed to provide rescue support in water-related incidents. As well as staff from Albert’s Shed venues in Shrewsbury and Telford, representatives from the live music venue operator’s security provider, Trebla Security, also received training.
In recent years, there have been a number of fatalities connected to the River Severn in Shrewsbury. As a result, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has been working closely with local businesses to provide training that can help prevent such tragedies.
James Sutherland, Road and Water Safety Officer at Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, said, “We are delighted to work with Albert’s Shed and Trebla Security to provide this training. It’s important that we work together to prevent further tragedies. Our aim is to equip as many people as possible with the skills to potentially save a life.”
Trebla Security representative, Pete Lawton, commented, “The training we received from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service was incredibly valuable. It’s reassuring to know that we have the necessary skills to potentially save a life should the need arise. We’re proud to be a part of this initiative and are committed to ensuring the safety of all who enjoy Shrewsbury’s nighttime economy.”
